This was the place where people used to come to take some water home. There was no water in their house, so imagine all the environment in a city where all inhabitants must interact. Kind of diferent this city.
Este não é um símbolo qualquer, é o mesmo da bandeira da cidade e está representado em pequenas coisas se prestarmos um pouco de atenção. Está associado a uma lenda muito antiga, a dos Corvos de São Vicente. Vicente seria um diácono que sofreu nas mãos do Imperador Dioccleciano (na época da perseguição aos Cristãos). Ora este imperador mandou lançar o corpo de São Vicente às aves, que nunca lhe tocaram, ao invés disso os dois Corvos protegeram seu corpo, pois segundo o que se diz, este diácono alimentava-os em vida.
Ora na época dos Muçulmanos (séc.VIII) não era permitida, por estes, imagens sagradas de outras religiões, pelo que os defensores deste Santo o esconderam no Promontório dos Corvos (Sagres). Quando o Conquistador, após a conquista de Lisboa, soube destas relíquias pediu que estas fossem trazidas para a cidade e segundo o que se conta, sempre acompanhadas pelos corvos durante a Viagem....

Amainzingly, they never touched the saint's body, and as said, two ravens protected him during all the journey from Sagres (were it was hidden) to here.
